CM opens Adani-KISS Tribal Residential School in Baripada

Mayurbhanj: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated Adani-KISS Tribal Residential School at Bankishole in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.

In the first phase 1,500 students of Mayurbhanj district will be enrolled from Standard I to XII. The pass out students of standard XII from Adani-KISS can pursue their higher education in KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that education is the real pathway to empowerment and congratulated Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and Adani Foundation for setting up a residential school in Mayurbhanj district for our tribal boys and girls.

“This will further empower them and increase their access to quality education,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik said that more than 6 lakh tribal students study in 6,500 State-run schools and many of them receive English medium education in urban area hostels.

Initially, the school will have a capacity of 1500 students – catering to deprived boys and girls in the tribal district of Mayurbhanj. The students will get to study in a world class campus, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, smart classrooms and indigenously controlled education.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marandi, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, Mayurbhanj MP Bishweswar Tudu, Rajya Sabha member Sarojini Hembram, Baripada MLA Prakash Soren, Adani Foundation chairperson Dr Priti Adani, were present.

“Initially, the school will have a capacity of 1500 students – catering to deprived boys and girls in the tribal district of Mayurbhanj. The students will get to study in a world class campus, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, smart classrooms and indigenously controlled education. Only the candidates of Mayurbhanj will get employment in Adani-KISS,” said KIIT-KISS founder and Rajya Sabha member Achyuta Samanta.

Adani-KISS is established on 50 acres of land with complete financial support of Adani Foundation.

On this occasion a 50 beded hospital in Adani-KISS campus was inaugurated by Dr. Priti G Adani. The hospital will serve the students, staff of Adani-KISS as well as the common people of Mayurbhanj district. The 24 x 7 hour hospital is managed by the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar, Odisha. As many as 20 thousand people from across Mayurbhanj district were present in the programme even on the day of strike.
