Congress stages walkout during Governor’s address to Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The opposition Congress on Friday boycotted the customary address of Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal marking the beginning of the Budget Session of the State Assembly.

As soon as the Governor started his address, the Congress members staged a walkout without creating ruckus.

The first phase of the Budget Session began on Friday with the Governor addressing the House. The first phase would continue till February 26. The second phase would commence from March 11 and continue till April 9. The annual Budget for 2020-21 would be presented by Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari on February 18. There would be a total of 31 working days during the third session (Budget Session) of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA).

This is the first time that Budget books will be given to MLAs in pen-drives. All MLAs would be given I-Pads for the purpose too, informed Parliamentary Affairs Minister BIkram Keshari Arukh.
