COVID-19 scare: Odisha orders closure of Aahaar Centres till March 29

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Tuesday ordered temporary closure of Aahaar Centres (Cheap meal outlets) except those operating near the hospitals till March 29 in view of the lockdown to contain the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a letter to all the Collectors-cum-President of District Aahaar Society and Municipal Commissioners of Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Rourkela, Municipal Administration Director Sangramjit Nayak said, “Government of Odisha has notified a lockdown in the territorial jurisdiction of all districts till 9 pm on March 29 in view of the prevention and containment of COVID-19.”

“I would therefore request you to take immediate action for temporary closure of all the Aahaar Centres in the district/municipal corporations except the Aahaar Kendras operating in/near the hospital premises till March 29 (9 pm). Further it is requested that public parks in all districts may be closed fully during this period,” Nayak said in the letter.

The State Government has declared lockdown in the entire State from Tuesday midnight to check the spread of the virus.
