Five teachers arrested in Odisha after Matric exam papers go viral on social media

Nuapada: A day after the Odia question paper of annual High School Certificate (Matriculation) examinations was made viral on social media, Nuapada police on Saturday arrested five teachers of two schools on charges of their involvement in the making the question paper viral.

Earlier this morning police detained the Centre Superintendent and two invigilators of Karangamala High School and Centre Superintendent and sports teacher of Litisargi High School and interrogated them after the Boden Block Education Officer (BEO) lodged a complaint at the police station requesting a probe into the viral incident.

Later, they all were arrested after their involvement in making the Odia question paper viral on social media was established.

On Friday, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), which conducts annual Matriculation Examinations, suspended four Centre Superintendents and four Invigilators for their alleged role in spreading images of the first day’s question paper on social media in Nuapada, Koraput and Dhenkanal districts.

All of them are either headmasters or masters of different schools.

As the examination began at 10 am on Friday, images of the Odia question papers went viral on the social media.
