Focus on quality healthcare

December 19, 2017: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched four healthcare
programmes to provide advanced healthcare services free of cost to the people
of Odisha.
First, under
NIDAAN scheme, high-end diagnostic services like Digital X-Ray, CT scan,
Pathology and MRI will be provided in PPP mode at Government hospitals. The proposed
NIDAAN scheme will come into force from January 1, 2018.
Secondly, under
SAHAY programme, dialysis services will be provided to kidney patients for free
at Government hospitals. For this 127 new dialysis machines are to be installed
in 25 district headquarters hospitals (DHHs) and in Narsinghpur Community
Health Centre (CHC) of Cuttack district to address high cases of kidney disease
by March, 2018.
The State
Government has made a budgetary provision of about Rs 600 crore over five years
to provide free diagnostic and free dialysis services in the State, said the
Chief Minister.
Thirdly,
the AMA Clinic programme will provide weekly specialist services in Obstetrics
and Gynaecology, Paediatric,
Medicine and Geriatrics, Ophthalmology, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry,
etc in urban primary health centres (PHCs).
Over 45.53
lakh individuals in 27 towns/cities will be benefitted from free treatment,
diagnostics and drugs, said the Chief Minister.
The ANMs
will be provided with Tablets with ANMOL application for real time tracking and
service to pregnant women, new mothers and newborns. This digital initiative
will ensure prompt attention and lead to further reduction in IMR and MMR in
Odisha.
The CM also
awarded the best performing districts for IMR and MMR reduction. Nabarangpur and
Keonjhar won first and second in IMR, respectively and Kalahandi and Bolangir
were awarded for being first and second in MMR reduction, respectively.
