Gajapati: Unidentified miscreants on Tuesday late night reportedly set ablaze the car of senior BJD leader and Mulnivasi Mancha Convenor Rabi Rathan at High School Square under Mohana police station in Gajapati district.

The mishap occurred when Rathan’s son and the driver, who were on their way to repair the car, parked the vehicle on the road to attend the nature’s call.

When the duo returned near to the vehicle having registration number OR02AV1988, it was found burning.

An FIR has been lodged at the Mohana police station in this connection.

Meanwhile, sources in the police said that it could be a case of short-circuit.

However, Rathan suspected it to be a case of political enmity as a heated argument was ensued between him and leader of another political party following a clash between the supporters of both the parties during the first phase polling on April 11.
