IIT-Bhubaneswar jumps to rank 20 in QS India University Rankings 2020

Bhubaneswar: Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) India University Rankings 2020 has released the first top 100 universities of India. IIT Bhubaneswar has been ranked at 20th position, improving from its previous position of 21st in 2019.

This is the second time QS has published separate ranking for top institutions in India. The British higher education analysts QS has ranked the higher education institutions in India on the basis of eight parameters which have different weightage.

The eight parameters with their weightage are academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty student ratio (20%), staff with PhD (10%), Papers per faculty (10%), citation per paper (5%), international faculty (2.5%) and international students (2.5%).

“The vision of IIT Bhubaneswar is to be globally well respected for producing outstanding graduates and generating new knowledge. In order to fulfil this dream, we aim to figure among the top 50-100 best Institutions in the world, as soon as possible,” said IIT-Bhubaneswar Director Prof RV Raja Kumar.

Kumar said that the strategic initiatives taken by the Institute in the recent times have not only fostered the development of the Institute, but also resulted in a significant rise in Institute’s ranking performance, indicating that our plans are right and we are on the right track.

The Institute has been constantly increasing its rankings in various international and national agency rankings.

As per Times Higher Education (THE) World University rankings 2020, the institute has been ranked 601-800 among 1396 institutes across the world and 10th in India among 56 institutes, where it has been ranked 7th in citation scores in India.

The Three University Mission Rankings (Russia) has ranked the Institute in 701-800. Also as per The Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings, the institution has been ranked 151-200 in world and 10th in India. In addition, IIT Bhubaneswar has been ranked by various credible national agencies. The Institute has been ranked 17th by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-MHRD, 9th rank by Times Engineering Institute Rankings 2019, 9th rank by India Today.
