Odisha BJP’s manifesto features women safety as a major prong

Bhubaneswar: BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday released party’s Odisha unit election manifesto “Sankalp Patra” here that featured women safety as a major prong. The key promises included capital punishment for rapists and Rs 2000 crore revolving fund for women self groups (SHGs) of Odisha.

The first bill that BJP will pass in the Assembly when it comes to power in Odisha will address sexual harassment and rape of minors and capital punishment for such rapists, said Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradahn.

In its poll manifesto, the saffron party also assured implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and PM-KISAN scheme in the State, enforcement of PESA Act in three months, interest free loan to farmers, refund of money to duped chit fund depositors. The saffron party also promised metro rail between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack if it comes to power.

Shah released the manifesto in the presence of party national vice president and Kendrapara Lok Sabha candidate Baijayant Panda, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bijoy Mohapatra, Biswabhusan Mohapatra and other senior leaders.

On the occasion, Shah also came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik Government alleging that Odisha is being run by babus. “Odisha is being run by Babus. Naveen Patnaik is only a mukhauta,” said Shah.
