Odisha reports first positive case for Coronavirus

Bhubaneswar: A 33-year-old resident of Bhubaneswar with travel history to Italy was tested positive for the Coronavirus aka COVID-19.

The man was admitted to Capital Hospital here. It is the first positive case from Odisha.

Issuing an official confirmation, Government spokesperson Subroto Bagchi said that the 33-year-old Italy-return patient admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar has been tested positive for Coronavirus.

“Don’t run to hospitals for sound bites as it affects medical treatment. Media houses are requested not to reveal the identity of affected person or their family members else stern legal action will be initiated against the violators,” said Bagchi in a press conference here.

Bagchi said the patient  who returned from Italy on March 6, returned to hometown Bhubaneswar in a train from Delhi on March 12. He is stable now.

The youth consulted a private doctor as he developed cold and fever and later was admitted to Capital Hospital on March 14. His samples were tested positive for Coronavirus on March 15.
