Cuttack: The Orissa High Court (HC) on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to BJP MLA candidate from Satyabadi, Om Prakash Mishra in connection with the alleged vandalisation of EVM at a polling booth in Puri district during the third phase polls on April 23.
Mishra had moved the HC seeking anticipatory bail after Puri police issued lookout circular against him after he evaded arrest.
Notably, the Gadisagada Police had on April 23 registered a case against Mishra and some of his supporters for allegedly ransacking EVMs at polling station number 78 at Birakishorepur village under Kanas block under the Satyabadi Assembly segment in Puri. Mishra and his supporters are accused of attacking presiding officer Sibaram Mahapatra and breaking EVMs.
