Satya Moharana’s miniature Thakurani idol drags eyeballs

Berhampur: Artist Satya Moharana has created a beautiful idol of Maa Budhi Thakurnai using old newspapers on the occasion of the ongoing Thakurani festival in the silk city.

The 34-year-old artist, who has set several international and national records for creating smallest artifacts, took three days to make the 13-inch-high and 10-inch-long idol. Crown, tongue, earrings, nose-ring and other ornaments have also been prepared of newspapers.

Earlier, Moharana had marvelously created micro sculptures out of wood, papers and detergent cakes. He has created many records in smallest artifacts.

His achievements include USA World Record Setters for the smallest elephant in chalk (8 mm), smallest Ganesh idol in chalk (3 mm), smallest car in chalk (7 mm), smallest idol of Goddess Kali in chalk (2.20 cm), smallest Ganesh in soap (4.8 cm), smallest idol of Lord Shiva in chalk (2.5 cm), smallest statue of President of India Ramnath Kovind in soap (5.5 cm), smallest idol of Siridi Sai Baba in chalk (2.40 cm), smallest statue of breast feeding mother in soap (5.5 cm) and smallest chariot of Lord Jagannath in wood (8 inches).

Last year during Rath Yatra, he had created 4.5 inches high and 3 inches wide chariot of Lord Jagannath from wood.  The chariot was recognised as the smallest ever by three leading institutions – Asia Pacific Records, National Records and World Record of India.
