Cuttack: The Orissa High Court (HC) on Friday rejected the bail plea submitted by Dream Centre Shelter Home managing director Faiz Rahman alias Daddy and Assistant Director Udit Lima in connection with sexual harassment charges against them.

The duo was arrested in December last year. Earlier, a special POCSO court too rejected the bail application of Rahman, the main accused in sexual harassment of female inmates and child torture at the shelter home.

The Dream Centre Shelter Home at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal was being run by Rahman’s Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Good News India. Rahman and Lima were arrested following allegations of sexual abuse by the institute’s minor inmates.

The shelter home had housed nearly 60 children and had been operating for the last two years without registration under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Good News India runs 22 shelter homes in the State.

Following the ghastly revelations, the State Government shut down all the 22 shelter homes.
