Sundargarh CDMO suspended, Collector issued show-cause for ‘Mo Sarkar’ lapses

Bhubaneswar/Sundargarh: The Odisha Government on Sunday suspended Sundargarh Chief District Medical officer (CDMO) Pankaj Patel for negligence in duty and issued show-cause notice to Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan for lapses in implementing ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative at the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

For the first time an IAS officer has been issued show cause in ‘Mo Sarkar.’

“Based on feedback received from public under #MoSarkar, Sundargarh CDMO Pankaj Patel has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for negligence & DM Sundargarh Nikhil Pawan Kalyan also issued with show cause notice for the lapses in implementation of #5Ts,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in his Facebook account.

“Such action will continue to be taken against negligence in duty and harassment to public in Government offices like police stations & hospitals. In our democracy where people are the true masters, the Government machinery must strive to serve people professionally and ethically,” added the Chief Minister.

The action was taken after Development Commissioner-cum- DC-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Convergence Department Suresh Mohapatra and Transformation and Initiatives (5T) Secretary VK Pandian visited the DHH.

On October 2, with an aim to make the governance people-centric, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative, a first of its kind initiative in the country.

The ‘Mo Sarkar’ is an initiative under the Chief Minister’s 5T model of governance that includes technology, transparency, teamwork, transformation and time-laid.

The initiative was started in nearly 620-odd police stations and 21 DHHs and three medical colleges at Cuttack, Berhampur and Burla in the first phase. It will be extended to all DHH by October-end.

With an objective is to provide quality and time-bound service to people, coming to Government offices, with dignity, all the departments dealing with delivery of public services will implement the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme by March 5, 2020.
