Won’t tolerate attack on cops, says CP Satyajit Mohanty

Bhubaneswar: A day after four police personnel sustained critical injuries as they were allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants inside the Saheed Nagar Police Station here, Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty on Monday said that these kinds of activities won’t be tolerated at any cost.

He said that all the miscreants involved in the incident have been identified.

“All miscreants have been identified based on probe initiated after verifying the CCTV footage. These kinds of activities won’t be tolerated,” said Mohanty, adding that stringent action will be taken against all accused.

On Sunday night, a group of ten miscreants barged into the Saheed Nagar police station and attacked three persons who were detained at the police station in a road accident case near VSS Nagar.

Police personnel present inside the police station tried to stop the attackers from entering the police station, during which they thrashed four police officials, including the IIC and ASI. The injured cops have been admitted to the Capital Hospital.

The assailants also ransacked the police station by vandalizing furniture, CCTV cameras, TV set and flower pots. Police have detained six persons in connection with the attack and launched a manhunt to nab others.
