Bhubaneswar: After joining national-level Joint Entrance Examination
(JEE Main-2014) for engineering admission, the Odisha Government on Tuesday opted
for participating in the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for admission to
MBBS and BDS courses for the academic session 2014-15.

Giving its consent to a proposal made by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which is entrusted with the task
of conducting the examination, the State Health and Family Welfare Department
on Tuesday in a letter informed the CBSE that it adopts the test for the
academic session 2014-15.

The test will be conducted on May 4 and after qualifying it
students can get admission into all Government, private medical colleges and
deemed universities in the State. Online registration for the same will start
from December 26.
While 85 per cent seats will be reserved for native
students, remaining 15 per cent seats could be fulfilled by students from
others states.

Health Secretary Pradipta Mohapatra, however, said the
decision to join AIPMT-2014 is subject to the final outcome of case relating to
NEET, which is pending before the Supreme Court for review.
