Odisha ensures timely salary for ANMs, GNMs and LHVs

Bhubaneswar: At least 7,907
auxiliary nursing midwifery (ANM), 1,228 lady health visitors (LHVs) and over
2,400 general training and midwifery (GNMs) working in grassroots level across
the State under the Health and Family Welfare Department will now get their
salaries timely.

The Finance Department
has approved the proposal of the Health Department to this effect recently.
Since the salaries of
the ANMs, GNMs and LHVs working under the Family Planning Directorate are based
on 100 per cent Central grants, the workers receive their salaries in every
three months.
They have been
demanding timely payment of their salaries and have held several protests too
to press their demands.
After Health Secretary
P K Mohapatra took up the issue with Chief Secretary J K Mohapatra, the
Government decided to make full payment of the salaries to the workers from its
own budget and get the reimbursement from the Central funds when released.
