Bhubaneswar, July 7:
The Odisha Government is clueless about the whereabouts of wonder boy Buddhia
Singh (14), who ran a record-breaking 65 km from Puri to Bhubaneswar, in seven
hours and two minutes in 2006 at the age of four and found a place in the Limca
Book of Records.
He was staying at the
Government-run Sports hostel here for almost a decade after he was separated
from his coach Biranchi Das in 2007 over allegations of exploitation against
the latter in 2007.
Singh has not returned
to the Sports here since the reopening of the hostel after the summer vacation
three weeks back putting the Government and hostel authorities in a tizzy.
His coach at the
hostel, Rupanita Panda said though the hostel authorities visited the house of
the boy at Saliasahi slum here but returned empty handed as they failed to find
either the boy or his mother Sukanti Das there.
“As Budhia did not come
to the hostel after the summer vacation, we inquired about him and even sent
officials to his house. But Budhia and his mother are not in their Saliasahi
house,” said  Panda.
The State Government
has been paying for his education, clothes, food and stay at the sports hostel.
He is now studying at Class IX at prestigious DAV Public School,
Chandrasekharpur.
However, his mother had
earlier alleged that his son is being deprived of proper training at the hostel
and food as well.
