Government of Odisha, would host a three-day Plast Future East-2016, an international
exhibition-cum-conference on plastics and polymers from November 18 at Balasore
International Expo Centre in the NOCCi business Park, Bampada, Balasore.
The
objective behind organising the event is to create a platform for corporate,
policymakers, business partners and technology providers to come together and
discuss the key issues and challenges pertaining to the Polymer sector in the
country.
The organizers
hoped that the event would most definitely help them promote investment in
Odisha and Balasore, in particular. In addition, the event would help the
industry sector in the State to come face to face with national and international
players. This event will be a keystone in helping the growth and development of
eastern region. Taking this as an opportunity the NOCCi has also decided to
promote Make in India as a part of this event.
The plastics
industry in eastern India is growing at the rate of 9% per annum as against 14%
of India. The per capita consumption of plastics in the eastern region
consisting of States of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Assam and the
north-eastern States, is 2.8 kg versus national average of per capita
consumption of 8 kg. This shows the tremendous growth potential in eastern
region as per study by the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association
(AIPMA).
