Naveen stands in human chain marking Biju Patnaik’s birth centenary

Bhubaneswar,
Nov 23: A State-wide human chain was organised on Wednesday to commemorate
Birth Centenary year of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik and 80 years of the
formation of separate Odisha province.  
The human
chains were formed throughout the 314 blocks of the State, besides at the State
capital Bhubaneswar where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stood in the chain near Forest Park here with Bhubaneswar MP Prasana Patsani on
one side and Panchayatiraj Minister Arun Sahoo on the other.
Thousands of
people from all walks of life including eminent citizens, elderly and youth,
women, students and professionals and people’s representatives joined hands to
form the human chain to pay respect to their iconic and most cherished leader.
“The
State-wide success of the programme reinforces not only the love and affection
of people for Biju Babu but also a firm belief in his visionary leadership for
taking Odisha forward on the path of progress and prosperity,” said Patnaik
after joining the event here at the Biju Patnaik (Forest) Park.
“This very
faith inspires us to serve the people with utmost dedication. It motivates us
to strive earnestly for accelerating the pace of development and growth of
Odisha and ensuring welfare and upliftment of the poorest sections of the
society,” added Patnaik.
In Bhubaneswar,
the human chain covered a distance of 35 km from Dhauli to Nandankanan.
The
Panchayati Raj Department organised the programme.
