Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: The 4th National Children’s Literary
Festival commenced at the KiiT International School here on Saturday.
The festival was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Ruskin Bond,
who is the festival’s chief patron in the presence of a galaxy of writers and
authors including renowned cartoonist Rohan Chakravarty, Bikram Grewal,
storyteller Rituparna Ghosh, Amrutash Mishra and Christopher C Doyle.
More than 600 students from over 60 schools from all over the
country are participating in the two-day event.
Bond said, “It is amazing how many of you want to write to
become writers. In fact, most of the writers only write but are not readers.
So, students should read more and more magazines on education, general
knowledge and health issues, etc. Students need self expression; it is the base
of good writing. Students have eminent writers for this festival, and you
should enjoy the festival.”
The festival is being organised by Kloud9, a children’s
monthly magazine, and hosted by the KiiT International School. This annual mega
event started in 2013 being conceptualised by KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta
Samanta.
The event is a powerhouse of activities like cartooning,
poetry slam, quiz, story writing and 60 seconds to fame. The classic collection
of newspapers and magazines was displayed for the enthusiasts. The winners of
an All India short story competition organised by the Kloud9 will be announced
at the festival.
