None from Odisha reported dead in Utkal Express tragedy, 5 hurt

Bhubaneswar, August 20: At least five Odia passengers, including
a woman sustained minor injuries after fourteen coaches of a high-speed
Puri-Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express jumped the rails on Saturday evening, with
one of them crashing into a house adjacent to the track near Khatauli in UP on
Saturday evening, claiming at least 23 lives. 
While three of the injured passengers were discharged after
first aid, the rest two are still hospitalised. But no casualties of any Odia
passengers were reported as yet, said sources in the CRC.
The injured persons from Odisha have been identified as Amay
Das, Madho Mondal, Devendra Das, Yatri Das and Sabita Malik.
Team of officers from Chief Resident Commissioner, New Delhi
(CRC) office are camping at Muzzafarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. They have given Rs 5,000
to each injured passenger for meeting their immediate requirements.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to bring them to Delhi
and send them to Odisha at the earliest.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also announced ex-gratia of Rs
5 lakh for the family of any Odia passenger found dead in the tragedy. He also announced Rs
50,000 for the injured persons from Odisha.
