This health assurance scheme will be launched on August 15.
“The Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Programme is meant for only 61
lakh families, while the Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana will cover 70 lakh
families. Hence, Odisha will not implement the Ayushman Bharat programme,” said

The State Government is branding the Biju Swasthya Kalyana
Yojana as Health Assurance Scheme, not a Health Insurance Scheme. Ayushman
Bharat, which was announced in Union Budget 2018-19 by the NDA Government, was
a health insurance scheme covering 10 crore families of the country, including 61
lakh from Odisha with Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage a year.

Under the BSKY, each family will be provided secondary and
tertiary cashless health care assistance up to Rs 5 lakh every year. About 70
lakh families are targeted to benefit under the scheme in the State. While
Ayushman Bharat scheme assures health coverage mostly through insurance model,
the BSKY will cover healthcare of all economically vulnerable families.
