Bhubaneswar, August 24, 2018: Hailing the three-day Odisha Vikash Conclave (OVC) being organised by the Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) in partnership with other organisations, the NITI Aayog on Friday said it would take steps to “replicate” the successful initiative in expediting development process in the country.
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar said this while speaking at the inaugural event of the three-day long Odisha Vikash Conclave-2018 here.
“The event brought together all the stakeholders to identify and discuss development priorities for the State. NITI Aayog will consider the Odisha Vikash Conclave model for replication in the country,” said Kumar.
He said it would work with other State Governments and development partners for organising similar content/subject focused conclaves in other States.
He also emphasised the Prime Minister’s priorities of eliminating malnutrition, improving quality of school education and providing poor households with free medical services.
The second edition of the three-day conclave provides an opportunity for experts from diverse fields to collaborate, discuss and present a road map to accelerate sustainable human development initiatives in Odisha.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “In Odisha a lot more has to be done towards providing clean drinking water, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, food security, housing, affordable healthcare, clean cooking fuel and providing gainful employment opportunities for the holistic development of our State.”
Pradhan hails from Odisha. Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) convenor Jagadananda also spoke.
