Bhubaneswar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address two public meetings at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district and Rourkela in Sundergarh district on February 6, said Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik on Thursday.
This will be Rahul’s second visit to Odisha in two weeks. He had addressed a mass gathering at Tamando Mini Stadium on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on January 25 where he blasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on different issues, including corruption, development and poor state of farmers.
Rahul’s visit comes close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three back-to-back visits to the State in last one month and the recent visit of party national president Amit Shah.
The visit of Rahul is also crucial for the grand old party in the State where several senior leaders, including two high profile MLAs – Naba Kishore Das and Jogesh Singh – resigned from the party earlier this month.
Rahul first visited to Odisha as party president on January 25. Before this, he had a two-day visit of the State, where the party is out of power since 2000, more than three years ago, in September 2015, when he was party’s vice-president.
Assembly election in Odisha would be held along with Lok Sabha polls.
