Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the crucial general and Assembly elections due in May, newly-appointed Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to hit the campaign trail with brother and party president Rahul Gandhi in Odisha in the last week of February.
On January 23, Priyanka took charge as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh thereby entering into the direct politics.
“AICC president Rahul Gandhi will visit the State in the last week of February. Priyanka Gandhi is likely to accompany Rahul ji,” informed Odisha Pradesh Congress (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik here on Friday.
The place and date of the visit have not finalised yet, added Patnaik.
The OPCC chief said that the State unit has written to the AICC requesting a visit of Priyanka Gandhi to the State along with Rahul.
Ahead of the crucial simultaneous elections, the Congress chief had already visited the State twice and held three public meetings at Tamando in Bhubaneswar on January 25 and at Bhawanipatna and Rourkela on February 6 where he came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on different issues.
