Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has launched Boat Ambulance Service in four districts in the State to augment emergency medical services in areas cut off by rivers or reservoirs.
With a fleet of six boats and 60 jetties, the service will complement the existing ambulance service on the ground.
While two ambulances have been sanctioned each for Malkangiri and Kendrapara one each has been provided for Koraput and Kalahandi, where people face difficulty in accessing 108 services. The service was aimed at delivering effective service to the remotest.
Built with fibre glass, these boats are stocked with drugs and lifesaving equipment to effectively administer pre-hospital care in the water.
