Mobile vision centres to provide advanced eye treatment to remotest

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday flagged off mobile vision centres in 10 districts of Odisha to provide advanced eye treatment to the remotest.

As part of SUNETRA programme, at least 53 permanent vision centres have been set up so far in 18 districts in the State.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said Odisha is the first State in the country to work on World Health Organisation’s (WHO) pledge to eliminate avoidable blindness through improved health services.

“Digital technologies, like web-portal, mobile app, electronic medical report will be used for the Universal Eye Health programme,” added the Chief Minister.

Health Secretary Pramod Meherda was present.
