Bhubaneswar: As many as 21 students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur here have qualified the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY). Jyotiraditya Mishra has emerged as the State topper in Class-XII category and clinched the 14th rank in national level.
The test was conducted by Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology. The 21 qualifiers include eight students in Class-XI category and 13 in Class-XII category.
Apart from Jyotiraditya, Saswat Mohanty and Satyapragyan Kar bagged second and fourth rank in State level in Class-XII category, respectively.
A total 64 students from the State have been enlisted for the final scholarship. The junior scientists shall take direct admission in the leading institutions of the country with lofty scholarships.
While the written examinations were conducted in November last year and viva voce was held in January this year.
The KVPY is an ongoing national programme of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.
The objective of the initiative is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realise their academic potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
