Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday wrote to Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar requesting him to extend the registration dates for JEE (advanced)-2019 by at least 10 days in view of the devastations caused by Fani in Odisha.

The JEE (advanced)-2019 to get admission into IITs will be held on May 27. For this purpose, the eligible candidates have to register their names online while the period of registration is from May 3 to 9.

“As you are aware, the extremely severe cyclone Fani had hit Odisha on may 3 which disrupted mobile and data connectivity in many districts. Due to non-availability of internet at many locations in Odisha after Fani, the brilliant Odia students have not been able to register their names for examination,” said Patnaik.

IIT, Roorkee is the organising Institute for the JEE (advanced) examination this year.

“In view of the disruption caused by cyclone Fani, it is necessary to extend the registration date by at least 10 days,” said Patnaik citing that all India NEET examination was also postponed for Odisha students, which has already held for other States in request of the State Government.
