Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his new Council of Ministers will be sworn in at 10.30 am on Wednesday at Exhibition Ground, Unit-III, said a press release issued by Principal Secretary to the Governor.
“The new Council of Ministers headed by Naveen Patnaik will be sworn-in at the Exhibition Ground, Unit-III, Bhubaneswar at 10.30 am on May 29,” said the communique issued by Governor’s Principal Secretary Madhusudan Padhi.
Patnaik will take oath as the CM of the State for a record fifth consecutive time. He has been the CM since 2000. Earlier, the swearing-in was held inside the Raj Bhavan. For the first time, swearing-in event would be organised outside the Raj Bhavan.
Nearly, 5,000 people from different walks of life, including members of the women Self Help Groups (SHGs), a loyal vote bank of Patnaik, would present at his oath-taking ceremony.
Notably, Patnaik had tendered the resignation of the Council of Ministers headed by him on May 24. Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal while accepting the resignation requested Patnaik and his colleagues in the Council of Ministers to continue in office till a new Council of Ministers are sworn-in.
On Sunday, Patnaik after being unanimously elected as the leader of BJD legislature party at the meeting of party MLAs, met the Governor and staked claim to form the Government.
The BJD has emerged a clear winner, bagging 112 in the 147-member Assembly. In the outgoing Assembly, the regional party had 117 seats. BJD too was victorious in 12 parliamentary constituencies. BJP won eight seats while Congress was confined to one seat. There are 21 Lok Sabha seats in the State.
