Sambalpur: In a bid to control crime and arrest criminals and maintain law and order, a modern integrated police control room, connected with a network of CCTV cameras, was inaugurated here on Tuesday.
With the launch of the new facility, police personnel would be able to constantly monitor images and video clippings captured through the CCTV cameras installed at various places in the city and act with a minimum possible time frame.
DIG (NR) Satyabrata Bhoi on inaugurated the facility established at Sambalpur District police office, in the presence of Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Arora. The DIG also flagged off four more PCR vans.
The facilities were initiated with the financial support of Hindalco Ltd, under its corporate social responsibility activity.
The control room will function round the clock. It is equipped with modern technology like VHF operating system, 100 dialling facility. Those in need of police assistance could dial ‘100’ to seek help.
The movement of vehicular traffic – triple riding, rash driving, driving without helmet and number plate, movement of criminals and antisocials – will be directly monitored at control room through CCTVs. It will also facilitate smooth traffic and law and order management during festivals and congregations.
Now, with the introduction of four more PCR vans, a total of 13 vans are now in operation.
