Lanjigarh: With an aim to create awareness against the ill effects of tobacco consumption, on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on May 31, Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh unit organised an awareness session on its premises in Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district here.
While around 100 villagers took part in the programme 100 associate partners attended the programme organised in the plant premises here.
The session held detailed discussion on the health impact of consuming tobacco, benefits of quitting it, and a video screening on ill effects of tobacco consumption.
The Vedanta employees and its associate partners also took a pledge to quit smoking.
Besides, it also held an awareness programme in Banigaon village, where its officials sensitised the villagers on the ill-effects of consuming tobacco.
Associate partners Raysing Majhi, Amylal Mandol and Parimal Das were felicitated for their outstanding achievement in the anti-tobacco drive.
Vedanta Lanjigarh Director (Technical) Phillip Campbell, Commercial Head Anil Rai, Expansion Projects GM Sunil Kumar Singh, Chief Community Development Officer Harmeet Sehra, and Vedanta Hospital Medical Officer Sunil Tarai and Lanjigarh gram panchayat sarpanch Sushree Mani Majhi also spoke.
