Sambalpur: The fifth International Yoga Day was celebrated at Sambalpur University on Friday, said a statement from the varsity.
The celebration at the University was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, Prof Deepak Kumar Behera.
In his inaugural address, Prof Behera emphasised on the importance of yoga for physical and spiritual health and called upon the gathering to perform yoga daily.
There was active participation by more than 200 people including, students, faculty and staff of the University and also general public. The event was orgnaised by NSS Bureau of the University.
NSS programme coordinator Dr Zashmir Naik, programme coordinator Dr Saswat Pujari also graced the event. Yoga instructor Tapan Mishra imparted various Yogasana and meditation to the participants.
