Malkangiri: Malkangiri police has arrested an inter-State cyber criminal for his alleged involvement in several cyber crime related cases in the State.
A special team of the Cyber Cell led by Inspector SS Tripathy on Wednesday arrested Supravat Mohapatra (23) of Hiranyapada village under Satyabadi in Puri district. He was involved in at least six criminal cases in the State, including two in backward Malkangiri district, said Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena in a press conference on Thursday here.
Cases were registered against him in different police stations in Malkangiri, Cuttack, Jajpur, Gajapati and Puri.
During investigation it was known that The accused is a highly qualified person. He has done diploma in hospitality management from Central Institute of Hospitality Management, Bhubaneswar and PG Diploma in IT and Management from Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), Bhubaneswar. He also completed his PG Diploma in 2017 and worked for sometime in Infosys, Bhubaneswar as a trainee. He also worked as Assistant IT Manager in Ultratech Cement, said the SP.
The accused is an inter-State criminal having links with cyber-criminals of Jharkhand, he added.
The district police settled all the six cyber fraud cases and recovered Rs 2,06,194.
