New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday supported the resolution moved in Parliament to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Participating in the debate, BJD Floor Leader in the Rajya Sabha said BJD supported the resolution on Article 370.
“In real sense today, Jammu & Kashmir has become a part of India. My party supports this resolution. We are a regional party but for us nation is first,” said Acharya, adding that the biggest happiness for all the Indians will be the day when the entire PoK will be occupied by India.
In an announcement met with massive uproar by the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday announced that the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
According to reports, the Government also decided to bifurcate the State into two Union Territories – the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir which will have a legislature like Delhi and second, the union territory of Ladakh, which will be without a legislature like Chandigarh.
Earlier, Naveen Patnaik’s BJD has also supported the Narendra Modi Government in the passage of Triple Talaq Bill in the Parliament.
