Bolangir: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal on Friday dedicated the Bolangir LPG bottling plant to the nation in the presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, State Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and High Education Minister Arun Sahoo, Bolangir MP Sangeeta Singh Deo and local MLA Narasingha Mishra.
Though Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu was scheduled to dedicate the plant but he cancelled his visit to western Odisha district due to heavy fog here.
The bottling plant set up at a cost of Rs 103 crore is the second one of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a public sector undertaking under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, after Khurda.
The plant located at Barkani, around 12 km from Bolangir railway station, with a capacity to produce 42 lakh cylinders per year will supply LPG cylinders to the consumers in 14 districts of western and south-western part of the State – Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Nuapada.
The foundation stone of Bolangir LPG bottling plant was laid on May 21, 2018 by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This plant has been completed in a record 19 months.
