Bhubaneswar: Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the BJP, on Tuesday announced to hold State-wide protests on February 20 against rising unemployment rate in Odisha.
The Morcha activists will stage demonstration in all district headquarters and also in Bhubaneswar to mark their protest.
Addressing a press conference at the State party headquarters here, morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy blasted the Naveen Patnaik Government saying it has miserable failed to ensure employment generation in the State despite ruling the State for last 20 years.
Sharing more about the rising unemployment rate, Tripathy said, “Odisha has topped the list of in the country in unemployment. Out of the 22.57 lakh unemployed youths who have registered their names with the employment exchanges between 2009 and 2019, only 26,450 persons have been able to get jobs thereby recording an employment rate of mere one per cent,” said Tripathy.
Coming down heavily on the Government for its Skilled Odisha programme, Tripathy alleged that it has solved no purpose.
“So far Rs 62 crore has been spent for the Skilled Odisha programme to train students. But out of 93,011 skilled persons, a mere 21,681 have got employments,” alleged the BJP leader.
“We will hit streets on February 20 and organise demonstrations in all district headquarters and also in Bhubaneswar to put pressure on the Government to provide employments to deserving people,” said Tripathy.
