Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced the registration of his sister Gita Mehta’s details in the Odisha Government portal developed to register persons coming from abroad in order to check the spread of Coronavirus aka Covid-19.
The Chief Minister appealed to people to register details about about their family members and friends coming from abroad to combat the outbreak of the virus.
“I have registered my sister’s details in the Government portal for persons coming from abroad. I appeal all of you to also register details about your family members and friends coming from abroad. This will help protect #Odisha from #CoronaVirus,” tweeted Patnaik.
The Chief Minister’s sister lives in USA and returned to Odisha recently.
On Tuesday as per the directive of the State Government., Puri king Gajapati Maharaja Dibya Singha Deb and his family members and senior IAS officer R Vineel Krishna registered online in the Government portal and underwent home quarantine for 14-days even though they developed no symptoms for the virus.
The State Government on Monday made it mandatory for all who return to the State from any other country to stay in ‘home quarantine’ for 14 days after a man in Bhubaneswar with travel history to Italy tested positive for Covid-19.
As per the directive, the foreign returned have to register themselves mandatorily with the Government – in the toll free number 104 or the online portal https://covid19.odisha.gov.in. They will get Rs 15,000 incentives for home quarantine or face legal action for concealing it.
