Odisha bans gathering of more than 7 people to contain spread of COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Friday imposed restriction on the congregation of more than seven people at any place other than inside homes to contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID1-19).

Similarly, instruction has also been issued to close all stand-alone restaurants, bars, coffee shops, canteens, eateries of all kind where a large number of people dine immediately.

As per a statement of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, all stand-alone restaurants, bars, coffee shops, canteens, eateries of all kind where a large number of people dine and congregate are to be closed immediately until further orders. Further, all hotels are directed to maintain a social distance of two metres among guests in their in-house restaurants.

All hotels and restaurants have also been advised to encourage the customers/guests to take takeaways.

“All public transports including taxis and auto-rickshaw on hire inside the city limits of all the urban local bodies will be regulated to allow them on alternate days,” it added.

Further, all market, shopping complexes , village haats etc will be regulated to allow only sale of food items including groceries, vegetables, meat, chicken, fish, egg and other essential conveniences and daily need items, it added.

The Government has directed the Municipal Commissioner, Commissioner of Police, Collectors and concerned enforcement authorities shall implement the guidelines.

The State has reported two positive cases of Coronavirus.
