Cuttack: For the first time, acknowledging arduous duties of police personnel on streets for enforcement of Coronavirus (Covid-19) regulations like lockdown enforced to check the spread of the virus, Odisha Police on Sunday decided to give them a day’s rest every week.
Further, each police official will work in eight-hour shift.
Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay announced this during a videoconferencing with district Superintendents of Police (SP), Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).
“All district SPs and DCPs has been advised to re-visit the deployment of police on the street to enforce the lockdown, so as to ensure that all police personnel on street duty get one-day rest during a week. The SPs and DCPs have again advised to ensure that the police personnel are not working for more than eight hours duty a day,” said a communiqué issued by the DGP office.
