Bhubaneswar: National Health Mission (NHM) Director Shalini Pandit on Saturday said that 8% of Covid-19 positive cases recorded so far in the State are above 60 years.

“While senior citizens are most vulnerable to Coronavirus in different countries, the percentage of such affected persons in Odisha is comparatively very less. While 16% of cases are between 0 to 14-years, 52% of cases are between 15 -40 years, 24% of cases are between 41-60 years and 8% of cases in age group above 60 years,” said Pandit in a press conference here.

So far, the State has recorded 50 positive cases, of which 12 persons have been cured and discharged from hospitals. A 72-year-old person has succumbed to the disease early this month. Now there are 37 active cases in the State.

She said that of the 37 active Covid-19 cases in the State, 35 patients don’t require hospital care.

“They are in hospital isolation to shield others from getting infected with the virus. It’s just a preventive measure. They will be discharged soon,” said Pandit.

“Only two of 37 active cases need proper hospital care,” added Pandit.
