Kendrapara: The Kendrapara district administration on Thursday extended the weekend shutdown till July 31 to check the spread of Coronavirus even though the district is not among the ’10 Zone-I’ districts, identified by the Odisha Government.
“The number of positive cases of COVID-19 has been on rise across the State and there is a risk of transmission of the disease. Thus, it has become necessary to restrict activities increasing exposure and risk in larger public interest. Now, therefore, weekend shutdown on Saturdays and Sundays is extended upto July 31,” said an order issued by district Collector Samarth Verma.
Further, the night curfew on weekdays will remain in force from 9 pm to 5 pm, it said.
The district has so far reported 251 positive cases, of which, 226 patients have recovered. There are 25 positive cases in the coastal district.
