New Delhi, August 31: Former President of India and Bharat Ratna, Pranab Mukherjee, passed away at 84 after battling a long illness on Monday evening.
Mukherjee was the 13th president of India from 2012 to 2017.
Mukherjee was admitted to Army R&R Hospital here for a brain clot surgery on August 10. While he was diagnosed as Covid prior to the surgery, he underwent an operation to treat the brain clot immediately. He passed away today after suffering from a septic shock due to a lung infection.
Leaders and prominent people from all walks of life mourned the political stalwart.
