Bhubaneswar, September 2: The Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved amendment of Advocates’ Welfare Fund Act, 1987 for payment of financial assistance to needy advocates to tide over crisis due to disruption of legal profession in view of Covid-19 pandemic.
“The State Government has decided to amend the Odisha Advocates’ Welfare Fund Act, 1987 to permit utilisation of the Advocates’ Welfare Fund for payment of financial assistance to needy advocate to tide over financial crisis due to disruption of legal profession on account of natural calamity, pandemic and similar situation,” said a Law Department statement.
Lawyers are suffering a lot due to closure of courts and physical hearing due to the Covid- 19.
