Bhubaneswar, November 24: Odisha is fully prepared with a system in place for vaccine distribution when it is available with focus on frontline health workers, people above 50 years and comorbidity, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the virtual meet of CMs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the status and preparedness of COVID-19 response and management.
“Odisha is fully prepared with a system in place for vaccine distribution when it is available with focus on frontline health workers, people above 50 years and comorbidity. Though we have prepared for the seamless vaccination programme to save every life on priority basis, we can’t lower our guard, even if when the vaccine is available, as the duration efficacy of the vaccine against COVID19 virus is still unknown,” said the Chief Minister.
Patnaik said, “Masks are still the best vaccine we have against the COVID19 pandemic and we need to ensure that we all continue to wear masks, practice social distancing and hygiene to protect ourselves against COVID19. Let’s resolve not to take the virus lightly.”
PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting with Chief Ministers of all States and UTs via video conferencing, to review the status and preparedness of COVID-19 response and management, with special emphasis on eight high focus States – Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and West Bengal.
The modalities of Covid-19 vaccine delivery, distribution and administration were also discussed during the meeting.
