Samaleswari Temple development project to be completed in 2 years

Sambalpur, January 19: As per the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a high-level delegation led by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Tuesday visited and reviewed the beautification and periphery development work of Samaleswari Temple, the presiding deity of Sambalpur.

The development project will be implemented under 5T initiative with a target for completion in two years, said communique issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian and Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman Asit Tripathy and Works Secretary Krishan Kumar visited Sambalpur, it said.

Development work includes beautification of temple, development of surrounding area, heritage corridor, Bhoga Mandap, rooms for devotees, parking facilities and river front area.

According to the release, Odisha Govternmet will announce a special package for the resettlement and rehabilitation of temple priests and landlords.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had announced a plan for the beautification of Maa Samaleswari’s Peetha as it is deeply connected with social, cultural and spiritual life of western Odisha.
