Bhubaneswar, February 8: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated new academic block, library and hostel building at Rama Devi Women’s University here.
The Chief Minister also announced that Rs 18 crore has been allocated for renovation of existing infrastructure like academic building, hostel building and open air stage.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said, “This is a unique institute in the sense that it’s the first and only university in Odisha till now, dedicated to women’s education.”
Remembering noted freedom fighter Ramadevi Choudhury, after whom the State’s first women University has been named, the Chief Minister said that the institute carries the vision of Maa Ramadevi for education and empowerment of women in Odisha.
He also urged the students to redefine the prestige of the institute to make it one of the best in the country.
Calling students as future of society and harbinger of change, CM said that, “Women today are leading in every sphere with their sheer confidence and by trusting their own talent.
The CM called them to realise their dreams and transform society by trusting their own talent.
Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, University Vice Chancellor Aparajita Choudhury were present, among others.
