Rs 694 crore transferred to accounts of 34 lakh farmers under KALIA scheme

Bhubaneswar, April 1: With the beginning of new financial year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday disbursed Rs 693.94 crore among more than 34 lakh farmers across the State under KALIA Scheme for the Rabi season marking the Utkala Dibasa.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said it’s heartening to note that KALIA is having an impact on the lives of 37 lakh farmers as well as 17 lakh landless poor in the State.

He added it is the only scheme in the entire country which also helps landless poor along with farmers.

“Farmers are the great power of our economy and reiterated that he has always stood with the farmers, will continue to work for them and fight for their rights,” said Patnaik.

Paying tribute to the sacrifice and hard work of the farmers, the CM called their sacrifice priceless.

The Chief Minister reiterated that Odisha will continue to press for implementation of Swaminathan Committee recommendations for the benefit of farmers.
