COVID-19: Rourkela Steel Plant augments supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen to hospitals

Rourkela, May 6: The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has so far, supplied 1567.3 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to different destinations in and outside Odisha as its efforts to help in the treatment of COVID-19 patients across the country. Meanwhile, it has augmented the supply of the LMO.

According to a RSP release, the steel plant has dispatched 380.14 tonnes of LMO to different destinations on May 5 (Wednesday) through tankers.

“Notably, the Steel Plant has so far dispatched 1567.3 tonnes of LMO in May 2021. Today, i.e. on 6th May, 2021, 4 tankers containing 49.47 tonnes of LMO from RSP have been dispatched to Haryana, through the Oxygen Express operated by Indian Railways,” it said.

“Keeping in view the large requirement of Oxygen in the treatment of COVID patients in hospitals across the country, the Steel Plant, under the guidance of Union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has diligently ramped up production and continuous dispatch of LMO,” it stated.

The plant has also put in place a mechanism for the safe, efficient loading and dispatch of the tankers carrying the life saving gas. The loading activity, which used to be done earlier in day time only, has now been expanded and production, loading as well as dispatch is now being carried out round the clock by the spirited employees working in the Oxygen Plants operating inside RSP, it added.
