Bhubaneswar, May 12: After a partial relief for some days, Odisha on Wednesday once again registered an upward trend in COVID-19 cases with 10,982 people testing positive for the virus in last 24 hours, triggering a fresh concern for the State.
Of the fresh cases, 58% of the infections (6,366) have been reported in ten districts. The distrticts are Khurda reported highest 1,539 cases followed by Sundargarh (964), Cuttack (885), Anugul (539), Sambalpur (454), Baragarh (431), Bolangir (426), Jharsuguda (380), Nuapada (378) and Kalahandi (370).
On Tuesday, the State had recorded 9,793 cases while the figure dropped to 10,635 on Sunday and 10,031 on Monday.
The jump in fresh cases pushed the State’s cumulative caseload to 5,65,648. Similarly, total number of deaths climbed to 2,232 with 17 fresh fatalities reported in last 24 hours.
Khurda and Angul reported maximum three deaths each while two fatalities have been reported each from Kalahandi, Puri and Sundergarh and one each in Balasore, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam and Rayagada districts.
